Barely months after the passing of industry veteran, Linda ‘Pro’ Mkhize, the world of SA Hip Hop has been hit by another terrible loss with the passing of Jabulani “HHP” Tsambo.
While details of his death remain sketchy, Hip Hop Pantsula who is widely referred to as just HHP or Jabba by fans has been open and vocal about his battle with depression and addiction.

In recent times however, he seemed to be in a much better place, even releasing the record “Feels Good To Be Back,” while plans were also in top gear for the premiere of his last album.

The passing of HHP at only 38 years of age is a huge blow for South African Hip Hop as he was one of the pioneer acts who laid the groundwork for the success the industry currently enjoys.

In the past year, HHP was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the SATMA Awards which was hosted in Mihkeng Bokone Bophirima Province.

The recognition of the Mafikeng-born rapper was in appreciation of his contribution to the game and the culture, as well as the growth of the industry in South Africa with several albums and awards under his belt.

Plus, his era saw the growth and success of several other Maftown artists, who have also now gone on to leave their footprints on the sands of time.
While the news of HHP’s passing continues to develop, his wife and publicist already confirmed the sad news in a phone chat with TshisaLIVE:

“Yes, yes, it’s true. I am with the family at the moment,” said a traumatized Sengadi.

Other acts in the industry including AKA, Da L.E.S, Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, Rouge and several others have already reacted to the unfortunate news as well.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Jabulani “HHP” Tsambo and we hope they find the strength to pull through this unfortunate event.

Rip Jabba!
