The Role Of Sports Management In Society

Sports are popular physical activities and exercises. These fill the need for physical activity, competition and play. Almost all sports are potentially competitive. This is basically the main difference between recreational, leisure or other games and sports.

Association Football is one of the world’s most popular sports. It is considered as a contact sport played between two or more people. The game involves physical activity, kicking and running. Association football is an amalgamation of all the contact sports, such as kicking and running, jumping, catching, wrestling, kicking, playing defense, goal keeping, goal punching and fouls.

Professional Sports Association Football is another popular sports. This game is governed by professional sport organizations such as FIFA, Ligue 1, Ligue 2, Pro licence and Major League Soccer. Professional sport involves physical contact as well as other kinds of strategizing.

Amateur Sports Association Amateur sport includes sports that require no professional licenses. For these amateur sports there are several rules and regulations that govern their participation. There are also different sections of these amateur sports that have different levels of participation. This could be the state level, division one, division two, national or even international level. Many people are interested in participating in these sections because they allow a free entry and some level of participation for non-professionals.

Sports As a hobby/ recreation Various sports can be considered to be a hobby or recreational. This could include curling, billiards, horse riding, paintballing, tennis, badminton, mountain biking, snowboarding, fishing, motor vehicle racing, gymnastics, surfing, wind surfing, sledding, horse riding, aerobics, swimming and many more. There is actually a lot of space for various activities in the list above. In fact, many sports can be classified under such headings. However, it is better to have a specific category for each sport and consider the different categories separately.

The above discussion highlights the fact that there are many types of sports, both amateur and professionally, which have become popular in recent times. However, the most common type of sports is that of organised sports. Organised sports involve physical competition, while the others involve a mixture of sportsmanship and competitions. The other major type of sports is that of non-sportsmanship sports, such as cheerleading, gymnastics, swimming, ice skating, athletics, fencing, table tennis, golf, athletics, basketball and so on. These non-sport categories are not only more common but also have gained popularity in recent times.

While most sports activities are considered to be a recreational activity, some are regarded as professional sports. Professional and spectator sports are generally associated with professional sport organizations. Professional sport organisations often run national and international championships and events. While these are considered to be professional sports, amateur sports persons may also participate in these tournaments or events, provided they follow the rules and regulations set forth by the tournament or event organisation. Similarly, both professional and amateur sportsmen or women can take part in exhibition or friendly matches held outside the country or region in which they are registered.

Sports management scholars argue that sports, if properly managed, can be a powerful source of social interaction and identity building. With the enormous growth of multi-platform marketing (MLM) in recent years, sports activities have become extremely lucrative. Moreover, the proliferation of international sports competition has also increased the scope and impact of sports management professionals. It is because of these factors that it has become necessary to regulate the activities of sports organisations and participants to protect the interests of the sport fraternity as a whole, while also encouraging greater participation by its members.
