The Three Definitions of Health
Today, there are three definitions of health. One is the absence of disease. The other defines health as the capacity to meet one’s needs on a daily basis. Finally, a third definition of health refers to a state of balance – the state of being in harmony with one’s physical and social environment. While no one is free from illness, we all need to take the time to maintain a healthy lifestyle and stay as healthy as possible.

The constitution states that “everyone has the right to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health.” The World Bank has stated that a country’s health is a public good, a basic human right. In other words, health is the ability to stay physically and mentally fit, and to deal with stress and adverse situations.
